As a ceramic artist with a background in architecture it is a natural choice to hand-build with a material, clay, that is so frequently used in the creation of shelter.

With paper-thin cast clay slabs I construct curious hybrid objects that dance on a cluster of thin clay columns. I explore architectural form, surface and scale to create the illusion of fragility and perhaps the suggestion of movement and gesture.

I pierce the enclosed objects, suggesting windows to a hollow, air-filled yet mysteriously inaccessible interior space.

My aim is to make ambiguous architectural creatures that examine, reflect and challenge the complex concepts of the built world
